Youth Catechetical Summer Camps

On April 20-23, 2023, the 2nd district organized an annual district youth gathering at Saint Paul Huay Tong Church. The topic was on “Walking Together”. Based on the example of Mary, “She got up and left immediately” (Luke 1:39). This is taken from the theme of the coming WORLD YOUTH DAY which will be held in Lisbon, Portugal on 1-6 August 2023.
There were more than 514 youths participated from 9 parishes of Chiangmai diocese with the strong team of the parish priests, sisters, catechist and the community helpers. A very meaningful program with lots of activities was prepared. A lead question asked was: “What is life’s meaning and value”? The youth were encouraged to dare to leave the comfort of themselves, leave their village to help other people just like the example of the Blessed Virgin who left home to visit her cousin Elizabeth. The inspirational message of H.E. Bishop Francis Xavier Vira was videotaped beforehand since he was on a trip to represent Thailand to attend the 10th General Assembly of the Catholic Biblical Federation held in Mar de Plata, Argentina from April 15-22, 2023. His encouraged the youth them to live life fully and be happy by going out of oneself.

Cultural Exchange for Catholic Students between Thailand & Vietnam Catholic students

Fr. Phạm Ngô Hoàng Dũng,S.J. brought a group of young people to participate in a Cultural exchange to HO Chi Min City, Vietnam on April 23- 30th April 2023. It was an immersion program divided into 2 parts. (Immersion Part 1) “We cook Vietnamese foods, garden, and clean the new buildings. Immersing in the lives of local people is an excellent way to learn a new culture”. (Immersion Part 2)”Life is an opportunity to create meaning.” We have had an opportunity to discover the church’s beauty, seeing the complex lives of poor and disabled people. Through this encounter, we found that our lives are so lucky with the blessings. WOMEN’S ROLE

On March 24-26, 2023 at the Church of St. John the Apostle, Mae Ho, in Mae Hong Son Province, a women’s seminar for zone #4 of Chiangmai diocese was conducted by the Catholic Committee for Development. This is an annual seminar for women and on this occasion that the Church is inviting everyone to be active participants of the Synod with the title “the Church that walks together”. Women has a special role in building unity and participation in the mission of sharing the Word in the family.
In these 3 days gathering, the women learned from experiences through collaboration network and establishing good relationship with one another, understanding their roles and responsibilities. The 450 women participants were very thankful for the 7 parish priests, 11 sisters, the 2 officers of the Women’s Committee and the 5 Catechist for hosting this event with love and sacrifices. They get ready to cooperate with the Church in the same direction along with participating in the mission of spreading the Catholic faith in today’s society.

GOLDEN JUBILEE & SILVER ANNIVERSARY

On 22nd April 2023, an Eucharistic celebration was held on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of Sr. Praphai Kittavee, OSU and the Silver Jubilee of Sr. Siphim Xavier, OSU and Sr. Paredee Maneeratanawongsiri,OSU. The grand celebration was presided by H.E. Joseph Wuthilerd Haelom with many priests and friends who came to join in the celebration and jubilation.
The Ursuline Sisters of the Roman Union Worked in the Diocese of Chiang Mai. The Regina Coeli College, among other works, sponsors a number of young women to have the opportunity to study in the Congregation’s College and support the missionary work of the Diocese of Chiang Mai in various forms according to the motto of the congregation, “Soli Deo Gloria” that is “Glory to God alone”.

DARE TO CARE

On Saturday, 29th April 2023 at Divine Mercy Church of Saraphi, a meaningful morning activity #DARE TO CARE-RUN4UNITY was held despite the sweltering heat by the Focolare youth group. The activity with 60 youths and children was to raise awareness of caring for the planet, “run” for unity, share experiences and get to know each other to build friendship and peace among the 5 ethnic groups. It included games, a symbolic tree planting and learning the EARTH CUBE where it says on each side the following message: ALL ARE CONNECTED, DISCOVER AMAZING THINGS, EVERYTHING IS A GIFT, ONLY WHAT IS NEEDED, SMILE AT THE WORLD, NOW IS THE TIME. Yes, we dare you to care for Mother Earth!

Sacrament of CONFIRMATION

On April 30, 2023 the Feast of the GOOD SHEPHERD! H.E. Bishop F. X. Vira Arpondratana has administered the Sacrament of CONFIRMATION to 21 boys and girls from different schools of Chiangmai. After a period of preparation, they were finally confirmed in their faith during the Sunday high mass at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Cathedral. May the Holy Spirit guides and shines more in their lives.
