Dear Brothers Bishops,

At the last CCEE meeting, I announced an official communication concerning the Theological Symposium “For a Fundamental Theology of the Priesthood” which will take place in Rome on 17, 18 and 19 February 2022. In fact, through the Centre for Research and Anthropology of Vocations and with the blessing of the Holy Father who will open the Symposium, we have begun an intense work on the theological foundations of vocations and more particularly of the priesthood.
This event is intended primarily for bishops, academics, religious congregations and associations of the faithful, but also for all the baptised whose ecclesial and vocational awareness we wish to stimulate. The symposium is thus part of the synodal process underway, which reminds us that the Church as a whole must promote all vocations, think actively about their complementarity and accompany the formation of priests, consecrated persons and engaged couples.
Therefore, I cordially invite you to take part in this event and to encourage the participation of the dioceses of your respective Conferences.
I would also like to thank you for helping to communicate this ecclesial event at all diocesan levels with a view to supporting it through prayer, financing and possible participation. For this purpose, you will find here the website address and the programme of the Symposium in the different languages.
